Artist Statement:
“My paintings and drawings are renderings of my own photographs of costumed revelers taken over the last four years during Mardi Gras and other holidays. In their handmade costumes, these subjects are enabled to express themselves completely. In this series I seek to show the wonderfully energetic culture of South Louisiana as opposed to the devastation dominant in so much of the art of post-Katrina Louisiana. The unshakeable energy of the series shines forth in my outrageously vibrant color palette and unconventional execution.”
