Alvin Batiste Jazz Society of Greater Baton Rouge

The Alvin Batiste Jazz Society of Greater Baton Rouge’s mission is to promote an understanding of and enthusiasm for jazz, provide opportunities for listeners, students, and performers to hear jazz and to learn about the art form and its history.

To further these aims the Alvin Batiste Jazz Society of GBR organizes regular jazz listening and discussion opportunities, presents lectures, sends a regular email newsletter of jazz listings and articles, supports guest artists at local jazz venues and partners with other jazz organizations.

Radio Stations Featuring Jazz

90.3FM WBRH and 1260AM KBRH are operated by a professional radio staff for the educational benefit of students enrolled in Baton Rouge Magnet High School’s Radio Training Program. Since 1977, WBRH and the Radio Training Program at Baton Rouge Magnet High School have taught students the fundamental skills necessary to become successful broadcasters.

WWOZ 90.7 FM is the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Station, a community radio station currently operating out of the French Quarter in New Orleans. Our governance board is appointed by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation.

We are a listener-supported, volunteer-programmed radio station. WWOZ covers many events live in and around the city and across the United States. We also broadcast live from the famed New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival annually.

WWOZ's mission is to be the worldwide voice, archive, and flag-bearer of New Orleans culture and musical heritage.

New Orleans Public Radio is a member-supported news and cultural organization dedicated to telling Southeast Louisiana’s stories to the world and bringing the world to Southeast Louisiana.

Serving a region with stark disparities, we’re committed to deep reporting on public health, the environment, education and politics — and to racial and economic inequities across the board. We give listeners and readers the information they need to understand their community and be better members of it. That means we illuminate power structures, contextualize systemic issues, and start conversations. It also means we have fun, play good music and tell good stories.

New Orleans Public Radio is driven by a love for the one-of-a-kind city we call home. Like you, our neighbors, we are curious, creative, concerned and connected. Southeast Louisiana’s story is our story, too, and we’re invested in getting it right.

New Orleans Public Radio is an NPR member station and is licensed to and operated by the University of New Orleans.
