Gordon-Ramirez Collection

Last week’s reception for the Derek Gordon & Rodolfo Ramirez Art Collection – A Retrospective in the Shell Gallery at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center was a wonderful success. Beyond a great exhibit curated by Visual Arts Director Lundyn Herring, the event was a homecoming and celebration of life for local friends, patrons and family members. So many pieces were sold that we've had to replace them with new items from the collection for the duration of the exhibit, which ends June 2. Proceeds benefit the Arts Council’s Derek Gordon & Rodolfo Ramirez Arts Fund, which provides financial assistance for young artists wishing to further their art studies.
A few days before the reception, we hosted a special sneak preview for our Arts Ambassadors and special guests, Forum 225. This was the first of several collaborations planned between ACGBR and this group of young professionals whose mission is to create philanthropic, professional and civic leadership opportunities.
The exhibition is part of the series of events celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. The Shell Gallery is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
