Cypress Pinchback ribbon cutting

Among those helping EBRP Housing Authority CEO J. Wesley Daniels cut the ribbon officially opening Cypress Pinchback this morning are Commission of Administration Jay Dardenne, Metro Council members Rowdy Gaudet & Carolyn Coleman, LA Housing Corp Executive Director Joshua Hollins, EBRPHA board chairwoman Dianna Peyton, HUD official Tammy Fowler, Louisiana Treasurer John M. Schroder, Pam Wall with Partners Southeast and Hope Bolden with Integral Development.

On March 19 ACGBR joined a host of city, state and federal officials for the ribbon cutting for one of the most exciting, comprehensive affordable housing ventures in our city –We’ve been involved practically from Day 1 on this project, whose mission is to facilitate aging with dignity. Located on Gardere Lane near St. Jude Catholic Church, the 99-room facility includes community gardens and trails, a community room with full kitchen, a fully equipped fitness center, computer room, laundry rooms on each floor, outdoor patio area and, drumroll please, an art gallery. Aside from the foyer showing off a ceramic installation by Therese Knowles with poetry by Nikki Giovanni, fabulous murals are on each floor done by local artists Jonathan “Skinny Dope” Brown and Kristen Downing.
Kudos to the East Baton Rouge Housing Authority and Partners Southeast for their the vision to include art as part of ongoing and future developments.
