Derek E. Gordon Arts Fund
The Derek E. Gordon Arts Fund (DEGAF) was established in 2012 in honor of the late Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge President & CEO, Derek E. Gordon. DEGAF provides funding to support need and merit-based projects in the arts through travel scholarships to young individuals and/or groups in the Baton Rouge community.
Grants are available to high school or college-aged artists who are permanent, legal residents of Louisiana at the time of application and throughout the grant period.
Applications are reviewed based on the artistic excellence of the applicant’s work, the degree to which the proposed project will help the applicant advance their career, and the potential of the individual artist. Grant awards range from $500 to $2,500 (to pay for travel opportunities like out-of-state performances, workshops, masterclasses, and/or conferences.)
Young artists seeking these funds are asked to submit an application form, a resume, three work samples, and a letter of support.
