"What It's Like To Never Grow Up" Closing Art Reception
"What It's Like to Never Grow Up" asks us to reconsider the assumptions we place on age and maturity. What if growing up isn't inevitable? What if it's a choice, or perhaps a luxury, or even an illusion? The exhibition invites you to step outside the conventional timelines we impose on ourselves, to experience what it might be like to live forever in the moment, forever young, yet always aware of what that might cost.
The works presented here reflect a desire to preserve the wonder and curiosity of childhood while grappling with the unfulfilled promises of adulthood. Morgan Tanner delves into the tension between freedom and responsibility, whimsy and burden, creating a dialogue between the nostalgic allure of childhood and the inevitable confrontation with reality. In this space, growth is not a linear progression but a cyclical dance, where joy and vulnerability coexist, and every moment holds both the potential for transformation and the comfort of stasis.
This exhibition invites viewers into a suspended realm where time stands still, and the joy, confusion, and complexities of adolescence persist indefinitely.
