Sammy Figueroa has long been regarded as one of music's leading percussionists, well-known for his versatility in a multitude of musical styles and playing a variety of percussion instruments from Latin percussion — cabasa, tsekere, bongo and guiro — to instruments from Turkey, Africa and First Nation.  

He’s played with jazz greats such as Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Quincy Jones and the Brecker Brothers as well as pop greats such as David Bowie, Chaka Khan and Mariah Carey.
