Teaching Artist Residency Program
The Artist Residency Program provides schools with professional teaching artists who instruct students in the disciplines of dance, theatre, music, poetry, creative writing, and/or visual art. The Arts Council and school designees collaborate on the focus of each residency, creating an individualized plan that meets the needs of the students.
Residency types include Arts Integration, in which artists teach their discipline collaboratively with the school’s academic teachers for students to demonstrate understanding of the academic content through presentation or performance of an art form; or discipline specific Art Education, where the focus remains on teaching the fundamentals and principals of the art form itself.
This program has been developed in alignment with the Louisiana Student Standards, National Core Arts Standards, and is available to students in Pre-K through High School.
